Tennis markets on Housebets follow the tennis chapter of the sportsbook rules. A walkover before the first point voids the match. A retirement after play has started voids markets that are not already decided. Statistical markets use official tournament data, including the ATP and WTA sites, or the data provider named for that market.
Rain and a change of court do not by themselves kill a bet. Read live betting if you are staking between points, and the sportsbook rules for the full retirement tests.
What is different in tennis
Most matches are best of three sets. Some are best of five. A short set, where four games can win the set, is a format change you have to read on the market. A tie-break counts as one game toward total games and handicaps.
Penalty points awarded by the umpire count. They are not ignored as "not real points".
If the players are listed wrong, the sportsbook can void the bets. If a live market stays open on a wrong score, it can void bets placed while that score was up.
Examples
Walkover, no point played. Every bet on that match is void and stakes are returned.
Retirement while a set-betting market is still open and the set score was not yet forced. That market is void. A set that was already finished stays settled.
Match decided by a 10-point match tie-break instead of a full third set. For set markets it is the third set. For total games it is one game, not ten.
Rain delay. Unsettled markets stay pending and trading resumes when play resumes. They are not voided unless the tournament is cancelled or postponed indefinitely.
Tennis FAQ
A player quits before the first point. What happens?
That is a walkover. Bets on the match are void.
A player retires at 6-4, 2-0. Does the match winner stand?
Markets already decided stay settled. Markets that still needed more play are void.
The rules call this a natural conclusion: the outcome could not change no matter what happened next.
Does a match tie-break count as a set?
Yes. A match tie-break is settled as one set, and as one game for total-games and game-handicap markets, unless the market says otherwise.
The match moves indoors. Are bets void?
No. A venue change, a schedule change, a surface change, or indoor versus outdoor does not void bets unless a market says so.
Where is the result taken from?
Official tournament data. For tour events that means sources such as the ATP or WTA, or the provider stated for that statistical market.
